Kappa Pi Art Fraternity: William Butler Artist Talk

William Butler visited the undergrad artists at Bradley University to discuss his experience in the field. This event was hosted by the Theta Gamma Chapter of Kappa Pi International Honorary Art Fraternity.

I painted this when I thought of you- Progression

I like to start my pieces with a textured background of brushstrokes. Here, I wanted to create an illuminating effect that would peek behind abstracted forms.

The second step was more difficult than the first because I had to figure out a way to mingle the abstraction and the branch figure. The orientation of this piece really dictated the movement of how each layer interacted with another.

The linear elements provided a good balanced quality to the overall piece. The color usage of the lines unified the composition and color palette used.
