I categorize my found object sculptures as metaobjects. This body of work uses color, texture,  pattern, material, and composition directly influenced by African American artists like Amalia Amaki, Melvin Edwards, Alison Saar, Betye Saar, and Rashid Johnson. The development of metaobjects flourished as physical manifestations of Black feminine energy. I combine fabric, beads, crocheted yarn, sequins, hair weave, and nail extensions as embellishments to play with themes of identity, gender, social bias, and respectability politics.

This body of work began in 2013 while organizing my BFA exhibition at Bradley University. The order of the selected works here are chronological starting with most recent assemblage.
