VENISE combines a multidisciplinary art practice with poetry and scholarship to empower, elevate, and educate audiences. She especially wants to uplift and encourage artists who lack guidance and/or comrades on their journey of personal expression.

Intersectional Artist| Writer|Storyeller| Educator|Activist

VENISE received her MFA in painting with a Women’s and Gender Studies Graduate Certificate at Illinois State University in 2016. After the MFA, Venise was an adjunct faculty at Illinois Central College and her alma mater, Bradley University. In 2017, she completed a residency at the School of Visual Art in New York for painting and mixed media.

She currently teaches visual art full-time at Art In Motion Creative Charter School for middles school students in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago. Venise continues to write for publications between creating art and spending time with her wife and kids.
