Donate Artificial Vines for Solo Exhibition at Rachel Cooper Gallery

This video is a call to action for my community to assist me with my solo exhibition for the Women’s & Gender Sexuality Studies at Illinois State University. I am addressing the history of the Devil’s Punchbowl in Natchez, Mississippi as a concentration camp for FREED slaves who were re-captured by UNION soldiers. The free men were put to devastating hard labor where they worked until they dropped dead, while freed women and children starved to death at the mercy of soldiers from the North. The site is currently covered in thick foliage and peach trees still grow ripe fruit from the soil of our dead ancestors. I am asking to have artificial vines donated by July 20th. I want to cover the gallery space in thick heavy leaves to recreate the bushy green area of the Devil’s Punchbowl while integrating, drawing, painting, and textiles for the storytelling. You can send artificial vines to my address or donate $2 so I can purchase them myself. Thanks for watching and learn your history / herstory!!
