I am currently in a combined exhibition with my colleague Carmen Sanchez-Lorente at Illinois Central College in the Performing Arts Center Gallery from March 22-April 14, 2017. Our exhibition will be accompanied with an artist talk from both Carmen and I on March 30th. I am excited to be finally displaying new work right before the annual faculty exhibition. For more information, visit the arts page on the ICC.edu website.
After mentioning how you had doubts about the wall exhibition I could easily see why you love it so much once it all came together.
“A woman’s work is never done – Sometimes Chocolate, Sometimes Cinnamon, Sometimes Caramel – and (my favorite) Mattress” set the tone for the bold colors, sweeping linear distinctions, and expressive figures revealing fictive kinships are found in all of the work on exhibit. I took in how some of the pieces move, others projected from the wall and most drew me in to see the details.
Your work coupled with Carmen Sanchez-Lorente’s large framed pieces create a balance that really works well together.
